England off-spinner, Graeme Swann, has told the sport news that his team-mate, Eoin Morgan, is the best one-day player in the world.
The Irish-born batsman has made a huge impression for England in the one-day format since switching allegiances in 2009.
Morgan has been a mainstay in England's middle-order in recent years, producing a number of match-winning performances to establish himself as one of the most dynamic batsmen in one-day cricket.
The 25-year-old has been on top form in the ongoing series against South Africa. He hit 73 in the third ODI last week, before an innings of 36 not out at Lord's as England established a 2-1 lead in the five-match rubber.
Swann, who was given time off to rest a long-term elbow problem following the second ODI at the Ageas Bowl, says there is nobody in world cricket he would rather have than Morgan.
"I honestly think he is the best one-day player in the world. I know I am biased because I play with him but I get to see firsthand the genius he is capable of," Swann told talkSPORT.
"I'm just so glad he is on our team rather than the opposition side because whenever he goes out to bat, if we are chasing a total, I never feel like they have got enough. I'm a huge fan of Eoin Morgan. It’s a pleasure to have him on our team."
While Morgan has become a star performer in the shorter form of the game, he has struggled to make an impact in Test cricket, disappointing people involved in online betting. He currently finds himself out of the reckoning.
Morgan will be heavily relied upon when England head to Sri Lanka for the defence of their World Twenty20 title, but he is unlikely to feature in the Test series in India later this year. He has too much talent to remain out of the picture.
