Slot Machine Myths

Myths are common beliefs that some people have that are passed from person to person until they become gospel.
While myths can be entertaining to some, they can be very dangerous to those who are misguided and follow them emphatically. Myths abound in every sphere of life and of course slot machines are no different when it comes to myths.

Myth #1 – Slot Machines are the worst gamble at a casino
I wonder if all the progressive winners believe this!
A slot machine is a game of chance like any other casino game . You can lose or win just as much on Keno , Roulette Wheel of Fortune and all the other games of chance.

Myth #2 – The Temperature of the coins will affect how the machine pays
Now you finally know why your granny used to keep her coins in the freezer!
In fact some people believe cold coins are the best to play with , and some people say hot coins are better.
Unfortunately neither of these beliefs are true .The machine is not affected by temperature.
It doesn’t matter if you play hot, cold, old or new coins.
The coin slot is a mechanical device and has no feeling

Myth #3 – Casino Management can flip a switch to make the machine pay or not
If this was the case – I would be best friend’s with all of the casino managers!
The slot machines have a computer chip in them that determines the pay back percentage.
These are preset at the factory. In order for a casino to change the pay back, they would have to change the chip.
This is a time consuming and expensive exercise involving lots of paperwork . They cannot just "flip a switch"

Myth #4 – Warm Coins being paid out are a sign that the machine is due to pay soon
Of course the coins inside the machine will be warm!
This is purely because they are in a machine that has loads of lights inside which is bound to make the coins a little warm

Myth #5 – A machine that has not paid for a long time is due for a win
I
f this were true – I would be a millionaire
There is no truth that a machine is due to hit. Each spin is a random occurrence and has no bearing
on what has happened previously. Don’t ever play more than you should because of this myth.
It can make you very poor in the long run.

Myth #6 – That machine just won big. It will not not produce another jackpot for a long time!
Although the laws of probability dictate that the longer a machine is played, the closer it gets to paying off a jackpot,
it is equally likely that a jackpot could hit at any time, including the next spin.

Myth #7 – If you use your slot club card the machine will pay back less.
There is no link between the card reader and the Random Number Generator( RNG )
By not using you player’s card you are denying yourself valuable comps and sometimes cash back from the casino

Myth #8 – If someone hits a jackpot on the machine you just left, you would have gotten that jackpot if you kept playing.
It will make you feel better to discover this is simply not true
The slot machines have a computer chip inside that runs the Random Number Generator (RNG).
The RNG is continuously cycling through numbers even when the machine is not being played. These numbers correspond to the stops on the wheel that display the winning or losing symbols you see when the reels stop. When you hit the spin button or pull the handle, the RNG picks the combination at that given microsecond. If you had stayed at the machine it is highly unlikely that you would have stopped the RNG at the exact second

Myth #9 – The Slots Technician just rigged my machine so I won’t win.
Slots Technicians are only there to do their job which is to make sure that the machines are operating properly.
The payout schedules are preset at the factory into the machines random number generators so they cannot change them without going through a long drawn out procedure.

Myth #10 – Pulling the handle a certain way will make you a winner
Whether or not you pull the handle slowly, quickly, gently, or roughly will not alter your probability of winning.
Pushing the "spin reel" button as opposed to pulling the handle won’t change your luck either.
The handle and "spin reel button" is nothing more than a connection to the switch which operates the spin button.
